Hold On

By Soul P. • Jun 10th, 2008 • Category: Artists in Residence

Lately in my personal life, life has been hard and honestly hard to hold on to. I have been going through various things that make me feel like I don’t want to walk, let alone run this race anymore. But I’ve heard a lot in sermons and personal conversations that this is the time to draw closer to God. And a lot of us who go through certain things know that more than being drawn to God you feel pulled away from God. And that is where I am at in my life as a man; I feel like I am being pulled away.

But nobody ever said this life was not a fight and when you feel pulled you have to pull back and fight for your life. Because God does not give up on us and neither should we give up. We’ve got to continue to fight with all of the strength that God has given us and trust him even when you feel like me. It’s a place where you would rather have a drink than pray or go out on Saturday instead of going to church on Sunday and feed your soul with the Word of God.

But even in this state of mind, myself, and all of us as God’s children still need to hold on even when we feel we are falling off. Because God’s grace is there and is stronger than any sin or problem we have in our life. So, to everybody reading this, hold on to what you know to be true even when you fall because that truth that you hold on to when you fall will be the thing that picks you up. And that is faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
