Whatever Happened to Letter Writing?

By Carried Away • Jun 18th, 2008 • Category: Artists in Residence

Howdy everyone!

So I just got a letter from my Compassion kid a few days ago. I can say it’s one of my most favorite things to get letters from him. He is only 5 years old so he just draws me pictures and his mom does all the writing. They talk about the family, how he is doing in school, interests, prayer requests, encouragement, all that kind of stuff. I love it because even though I don’t know the family, I feel like I know them tons because of even the voice in which the write.

She seems like a really sweet woman of God. What happened to the whole writing letters deal anyways? I don’t know about you, but I love getting letters in the mail. It’s the whole time and effort that was put into the actual penmanship that really means the most to me I think. Well I guess it’s kinda like Christmas too because you think… wow what’s inside!? It’s a big surprise!! And I think, someone actually thought about me to write a letter! Awww, how sweet!

Well I hope Diego, my sponsor kid, loves getting his letters too. :) I would encourage anyone and everyone to think about sponsoring a child!! Honestly it is one of the coolest things ever. Not only do you you give to their physical needs, but also these kids are learning about Jesus!! It doesn’t get better than that I tell ya! Well I’ll leave you with this: write a letter today and brighten someone’s day! (that rhymed…cool)

Peace,
Christine Prankard
