Before I was involved in the christian music industry, I spent almost 3 years doing music in the mainstream music world. I still laugh at some of the similarities between the two. I hear people preach all the time that if you want different results, you need to do something different than what you usually do. So how come we run our ministries/careers in music the same way that all the rest do, and expect to have a bigger impact or see different results?
I’ve realized that part of making the biggest impact as an artist, is being accessible to people. It’s sad to me that money is always the determining factor in whether or not someone has access to music that might help inspire them or change their lives. It pains me. I want my music to reach the masses, simply because I believe it can make a difference. So I’ve decided to change the way I go about music. It’s time to do something different to see different results. I’m currently working on developing a system that will allow me to offer ALL OF MY MUSIC FOR FREE, and still the finances needed to continue to make the music and do what I love. I believe that this will free me from money being the driving force of my career, and open the door to pursue everyone with a ministry mindset. This is a way for me to prove that it’s for the people, instead of just saying it is!

Wow!
Go for it brother! You’re so right. If there is ever going to be a christian music business worth the name, then it has to do business in a different way. More righteous definitely, but also more creative, not just in the music part, but the business part too.
I’ll be watching your progress and hoping to learn from you as will many others, I’m sure.
BTW – just recommended your song ‘Go Get Em Kik’ on my blog.
Does it Resonate with you?
