Well hello.
Travis here, just writing from an awesome new coffee shop that I discovered just the other day. I’m not even that big of a coffee drinker…well, okay…I have become one. I can’t deny it. Here is my checklist for a good coffee shop:
1. Good music. This includes such artists as…
A. Sigur Ros
B. Sufjan Stevens
C. The National
D. City and Colour
E. Seabear
F. Page France
2. Wood floors
3. Comfortable chairs/couches
4. Earth tone walls
5. Only 2 to 3 selections of coffee types(anything more and I’m confused. Let’s just stick with Light, Medium, Dark). Also, let’s go ahead and just use the sizes, Small, Medium and Large! None of this “Tall, Grande, Giganormeous” adjectives to describe how much coffee I
will be receiving. I don’t understand. So if I order a tall, is that going to be a lot of coffee? I don’t want a lot of coffee. I just want a small cup of coffee. Oh, wait…a tall IS a small?? Hmmm…So what happens if I say, I want a grande? I mean, do I need to brace myself and bend at the knees to pick up the cup? In a way, this works out for me in the end. I’m a small guy…but I guess that means I’m actually “tall.” Thank you Starbucks!
6. A few nooks where no one can see you if you kind of just want to go unnoticed.
7. Feel free to add on…
On to more important things…
So you know how people ask you, “Well, what’s your favorite bible verse?” I’ve never liked that question. I just like the bible and the things inside of it. Including those awesome pictures in your bible as a kid where Jesus looks like Chuck Norris. For some people, that answer isn’t good enough. It’s like they think, “Well, they must not read the bible. Sinner.” Well, I found one. For the time being at least.
“I saw the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.” - Acts 2:25-28
Right off I love the line, “I will not be shaken!” Heck no I won’t! Bring it on, I have Him “at my right hand” like a hidden pocket knife. Or like a ninja sword. Or like a wild mini cougar. It’s just so powerful right? It show’s everything about His sovereignty in 5 simple words. And because of His willingness and ability to protect, we are to “rejoice” and “live in hope.” Also, how comforting is it to know that He “will not abandon us to the grave or let His Holy One decay.”
No matter what! Maybe we turn our back on Him due to angry, confusion or just boredom, but because He is selfless and patient…He never leaves. He just waits and guides us. And as we come back to Him, he reveals himself and directs us down a path that is beautiful. Maybe hard at times, but it’s the right path. All the while, filling us with joy.
The End.
