When Life Hands You Lemons

By The Washington Projects • Sep 23rd, 2008 • Category: Artists in Residence

Have you ever had one of those days? You know THOSE days… Where nothing seems to go right, everything you touch falls apart and your foot seems to be permanently stuck in your mouth? I’ve had a few of those days lately! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stubbed my toe, said the absolute wrong thing, or completely forgotten something very important! And it seems that right when you get it together, you drop your phone on the concrete and watch it break to pieces. I’ll be real, it seems that the bad days always seem to line up with the “forgot to read my Word today” days. Interesting…

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Every trial. Even the little annoying ones that are self inflicted. Sometimes I need to stub my toe to slow down and listen. And sometimes I need to say that wrong thing at the wrong time to really get down to the “nitty gritty” (as Nacho Libre would say) with someone. Life can throw some curve balls at you. And just when you think you’ve got the path ahead all figured out, one can come around and hit you from behind.

But if you trust in the Lord, He will never let you down. If you ask Him for help in that time of need, no matter how small the problem, He will answer. He knows exactly how to remove your foot from your mouth and set things straight. And most importantly, God knows how to take the worst day and make it into the most important lesson you’ve ever learned.

When life hands you lemons, God paints those bad boys GOLD.
