Hello good people!
My name is Oddi Nessa and I am the lead singer of the Norwegian band Dreampilots. The band has been going on since 2003, and now the airplane is pointing across the Atlantic Ocean to the US. This is really exiting to us people from the mountains of Scandinavia!
I have always in my heart felt that there was some kind of a calling connecting me to Dreampilots. The band means a lot to me, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. That is first of all because I believe that the band has got something to say to the world. I also admire my fellow band members, as musicians and friends. When we play together something unique happens.
Being in the band is to me necessary, beautiful and sometimes tough. When life is hard it also takes a grand bit to meet the others. You cannot hide a sensible tone when you are making music because music is about expressing inner feelings. A tough period almost ruined the band four years ago after making some wrong decisions. We ended up in a lot of economical debt. At one time I felt so exhausted and vulnerable that leaving seemed to be the easiest way out.
On the brink of releasing an album in the US the 29th of September, the passion for music and for each other is stronger than ever – and we have grown together in a garden called teamwork. I must say I feel good and I thank God that he has brought us through hard times.
Our song Comedown is about facing the real world, fighting the fight, and never taking the easy way out. Why do I often think that leaving during the tough times will solve the problem? Wouldn’t I just end up running from place to place looking for that perfect spot where I could “feel good” again? Quitting when times get tough must be the cheapest drug you can get on the street today. Relationships of all kinds get broken because the “good feelings are gone”. Don’t misunderstand me, because sometimes it might be the right thing to do, but my point is this; Am I following the feeling, or am I doing what I believe is right?
There is a good story in the Bible where Jesus is tempted by the Devil for forty days in the desert (Matthew 4, 1-11). Jesus taught us something about not giving up and leaving for the sake of good feelings. He easily could have turned stones into bread when he hadn’t eaten for forty days. He could have run from his obligations by assuming power over all nations by kneeling down and worshipping the Devil himself. But no! Jesus didn’t bail out. He must be the ultimate “stayer” of all time! He never chose the easy way out, not even when he was tempted on the cross.
So, let’s follow his example!
Peace and love,
Oddi
Hailing from the fjords of Scandinavia, Norwegian rock band Dreampilots will release their North American debut album Comedown on September 29th. The highly-anticipated project will be the first release through Red Hammer Records’ new major distribution partnership with E1 Entertainment Distribution (formerly Koch Entertainment). Originally started as a ministry project, frontman and former Word Records UK artist Oddi Nessa heeded God’s call and set out across the Norwegian countryside with a guitar on his back, a Bible in his hand and a deep desire to share the hope of Jesus Christ with anyone who would listen. He was soon joined by bass player Gulleiv Wee, a founding member of the platinum selling pop band The September When, and production and keyboard maestro, Inge Engelsvold. The evolution of Dreampilots was complete with the addition of drummer Karl Oluf Wennerberg, who is also the drummer for the multi-platinum super-group a-ha. Hello Oddi
It is always interesting & nice to read about the band.
Takk because reading your blog just now helped me to feel better. Why? because of your words to NOT give up.
When exhausted or very frustrated it is easy to give up & much anger can appear. However long it takes with the cause a person fights for, it is best to carry on, perservering & becoming sronger also, becoming fitter ! Along the way, many won’t understand & many don’t help. It has been very shocking fighting my personal injury battle & it’s a really difficult time for me still.
It can be so hard, also very cruel what some have gone through. It is right to not give up on something you believe in strongly and know to be right & true.
Does it Resonate with you?
