According to reports from audience members who were a part of the taping of American Idol’s “Idol Gives Back,” due to air this evening, the grand finale of the performance showcases the eight remaining Idol contestants performing Darlene Zschech’s modern hymn, “Shout to the Lord.” While it’s an odd closing for the show, Idol has long been populated by people of faith with artists like Chris Sligh, Melinda Doolittle, Chris Daughtry, Mandisa, and others being open about their faith. Like or loath the show, tonight’s episode might be worth a Tivo.
